Petite: seven women with a neat frame and a presence that fills the room

Glossies love to promise that good things come in small packages, and for once the cover line is accurate. Petite, in this issue, describes a fine, compact frame rather than a single measurement: heights run from 158 to 163 cm, with one exception in Tiffany, who reaches 169 cm yet shares the slight, fine-boned build of the rest.

What a neat frame brings to an evening is ease. These seven slip through a crowded bar, look perfectly at home on a counter stool or in a corner booth, and move through the lanes and arcades of Mayfair as if the streets had been drawn with them in mind.

Part one

Seven women, seven quick introductions

Tina, 158 cm, espresso brown and athletic, trained in fashion design and still sews some of her own clothes. Jasmin, 160 cm, chestnut and bright, dances salsa and collects perfume with real devotion. Rosa, 160 cm, curvy with chestnut curls, bakes sourdough and crate-digs for soul records. Lea, 161 cm, auburn and hazel eyed, loves interiors and new plays in small theatres. Sonya, 162 cm, dark brown and serene, still takes ballet class twice a week. Lucy, 163 cm, dark curls, runs along the river and reads the night sky. Tiffany, the tall exception, shoots the city in black and white.

Part two

Short detours they would add in W1

Each of the seven has a small Mayfair detour she loves. Tina walks Savile Row to admire the tailoring before a drink at the Donovan Bar in Brown's. Jasmin slips into the Royal Arcade to try whatever fragrance is new, then on to the Vesper Bar. Rosa calls at Handel & Hendrix on Brook Street, Lea browses the antique shops on Mount Street, and Tiffany leads you through Shepherd Market with her camera ready. Sonya prefers a slow lap of Berkeley Square, and Lucy would rather catch a science talk at the Royal Institution.

Part three

Heels, hems and seating plans

Most of the seven wear a heel at night and a flat by day, so if your plan includes a real walk, say so and she will bring both. Hemlines run to midi and knee length rather than floor length, which suits a supper table better than a ballroom. And at dinner, a banquette or a round table puts everybody at an easy eye level.

Part five

Booking a petite companion

Every name here starts at £400 for the hour. Jasmin and Lea both feature on couples evenings, where a warm, easy third guest makes a table for two partners work. The rest of the ladder lives on the rates page. Message Bella with a name, a time and the address; her fee is hers alone, handed over the moment you say hello.
