Her cover story

Meet Michelle

Michelle's wardrobe could be colour-graded in rosé: blush silk, dusty pink cashmere, a camel coat for contrast. It suits her. She stands a curvy 173 cm, dark brown hair running straight down her back, eyes a warm brown, with the soft, romantic elegance of a woman who likes to look lovely without ever seeming to try. She is also, and this is the surprise, a talker, with a laugh that arrives easily and stays.

Chatty in the best way, Michelle asks follow-up questions, tells stories with proper endings and knows exactly when to hand the conversation back. There is a nurturing streak, too: she will notice you skipped lunch and quietly order something for the table. Sailing is her summer escape, museums her rainy-day rescue, and mixology the hobby she takes most seriously, with a home bar arranged like a small laboratory. In her late twenties, she speaks bright, friendly English and makes strangers feel like old friends within one drink.

Her Mayfair evening begins, inevitably, at the Connaught Bar, where the martini trolley rolls to your table and the bartender mixes in front of you with a flourish she critiques kindly. She will ask which bitters he chose, compare notes on garnishes and then insist you try her choice rather than yours. Dinner can be anywhere nearby; she cares more about the conversation than the menu, though she does like a proper pudding.

Michelle lives in Chelsea and meets guests all over Mayfair, often around Grosvenor Square, a couple of minutes from the Connaught. She is free most evenings and quick to reply; see the rates page, then message Bella.

An evening with Michelle

Michelle's evenings are warm, talkative and very well mixed. She arrives with a story already half told, usually about something small and funny that happened on the way, and within minutes you are telling her yours. At the bar she is in her element, discussing vermouth with the bartender as if they were old colleagues and choosing you a drink that turns out to be exactly right. Over dinner she steers gently towards the things you enjoy, remembering names and places from earlier in the night. She makes sure you eat properly, laughs readily and fills the room with an easy glow. Later the chatter softens into something closer and quieter, and the rose-toned calm she brings stays with you long after she has gone.

The interview

In Michelle's own words

Three questions guests like to ask Michelle before a first evening.

The Martinez. It is the martini's sweeter grandparent, and hardly anyone orders it, so the bartender always makes it with extra care.

The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. Ship models, old charts, and a river view the moment the rain stops.

Coming back into harbour at dusk, salty and sunburnt, knowing someone is about to hand you a very cold drink.

Notes on Michelle

Michelle's letters page is still blank, and it stays that way until a real guest writes in. Nothing here is ever written for her.

When a note does arrive, Bella reads every word first; we print a first name and the month, never more, and if Michelle wants a note gone, it goes.
