Molly, when the night shifts gear

Ten o'clock is Molly's golden hour, the moment when most people are thinking about bed and she is only just putting in her earrings. Her long dark brown hair tumbles in big, glossy waves, her brown eyes carry a wicked sparkle, and she dresses her curvy 164 cm frame boldly: a red dress with a sharp neckline, a leather jacket over the shoulders, heels she could dance in till dawn, and often does.

Warm, playful and utterly at ease with herself, Molly is the friend who makes every plan sound better. She follows house music seriously, the soulful, piano-led kind, and can tell you which DJ is worth staying up for this month. Cocktails are her craft: she respects a well-built drink and is merciless about a lazy one. Her more surprising passion is vintage cars, from chrome-heavy American saloons to tiny Italian roadsters, and she can talk about a restored dashboard with genuine tenderness. In her mid twenties, she speaks quick, flirtatious English with a laugh you hear across a room.

In Mayfair she likes to start on Berkeley Square, pressed to the windows of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley showroom to admire whatever is gleaming inside, then cross to Amazonico for a late table among the palms, where the DJ takes over as the plates are cleared. It is loud in the right way, warm and a little wild, and she is at her best in exactly that atmosphere.
