Her cover story

Meet Roxi

Jab, cross, hook, and then the grin: that is Roxi's morning, and something of the rhythm stays with her all day. Confident and vivacious, she has long black hair, sparkling brown eyes and a curvy 168 cm frame that she dresses in bright, tropical glamour: a coral dress, gold sandals, oversized hoops, a stack of beaded bracelets that jingle when she talks with her hands.

Playful through and through, Roxi turns ordinary plans into good stories. She trains at a boxing gym for fun and fitness, keeps a podcast queue that runs from Roman emperors to unsolved mysteries, and disappears to the coast with a surfboard whenever the forecast allows. That mix makes her a brilliant conversationalist: she will have an opinion on the episode you half remember and a wipeout story to make you laugh. In her early twenties, she speaks energetic, witty English, and her confidence is the relaxed kind that puts everyone at ease.

For Mayfair she picks Gymkhana on Albemarle Street, a short stroll from Piccadilly, all dark wood, brass fans and hunting-lodge glamour, where the kebabs and curries have real fire and the room buzzes late. She likes a booth downstairs, a spicy margarita and a lot of laughter, and she will insist you try the dish you were nervous about ordering, then steal a forkful herself. Downstairs the lighting is low and the noise is happy, which is exactly how she likes a Friday.

Roxi lives in Pimlico and usually meets guests at the hotels around Mayfair and Piccadilly. She is away on a surf trip; the booking page shows how Bella can hold a late evening for when she lands.

An evening with Roxi

An evening with Roxi has a good soundtrack and plenty of laughs. She turns up full of energy, often halfway through a story about her last sparring round or a podcast theory she needs to test on someone, and she really wants your verdict. Dinner should have a bit of spice, literally, and a lively, noisy, happy room, but she is just as happy tucked into a quiet booth if you want to talk. She is confident enough to lead the conversation and generous enough to hand it over. Later the energy settles into something warmer and more relaxed, and her playful sparkle makes even the end of a long working week feel like a Friday with nowhere to be.

The interview

In Roxi's own words

Three questions guests like to ask Roxi before a first evening.

The skipping, honestly. Anyone can hit a bag when they are cross. Skipping for ten minutes straight takes real character.

A history series about shipwrecks. Every episode ends on a cliffhanger, so I have been late for the gym twice this month.

Catching one perfect green wave in Cornwall at sunrise, then falling off spectacularly on the next. The balance felt about right.

Notes on Roxi

Roxi's letters page is still blank, and it stays that way until a real guest writes in. Nothing here is ever written for her.

When a note does arrive, Bella reads every word first; we print a first name and the month, never more, and if Roxi wants a note gone, it goes.
